Abramson to be next executive editor of 'New York Times'

New York—The New York Times announced that Jill Abramson, managing editor, has been named the next executive editor of the newspaper, effective Sept. 6. She will be the first female executive editor of the paper. She will succeed Bill Keller, who will become a full-time writer for the Times. Additionally, Dean Baquet, the Washington, D.C., bureau chief, will become managing editor-news.
