Little Rock--Acxiom Corp., a specialist in maintaining accurate b-to-b database lists in real-time, said Wednesday that it has adapted customer relationship management marketing technology to provide a system for verifying the identity of air travelers. To be released next month, the system uses existing real-time customer recognition and other data integration systems to source information on passengers purchasing airline tickets and checking in at airports. Acxiom compares the verification process to applying for a credit card, purchasing an insurance policy, obtaining a passport or working at a day-care center. The company is considered by CRM experts to be one of the few companies capable of accurately matching information about an individual from multiple databases and-this is key-in real-time. Acxiom said the U.S. air travel system has traditionally focused on seizing weapons and contraband rather than preventing dangerous individuals from boarding planes. Acxiom's Application Verification System is already used by the insurance industry. The company is already in discussions with an undisclosed major aviation company and one government agency, said company spokesman Dale Ingram. Pricing will be negotiated, he said.
