Akonix adds sales, marketing product development server

San Diego--Akonix Systems Inc. has released Akonix Research Server, which it says creates a database of customer information based on Web visits. The server software tracks not just Web visits, but also instant messaging, bulletin board, survey, affinity marketing and auction activity. Akonix said sales and marketing executives can use the product to fine-tune marketing messages, identify sales prospects and identify new product opportunities. Akonix Research Server version 2.1 is sold as part of Akonix's overall enterprise communications platform, which costs about $750,000 plus variable implementation and service costs. Akonix competes with such companies as AOL Time Warner Inc. and eBay Inc., as well as Web Crossing Inc., PeopleLink Inc. and ChatSpace Inc.
