Mountain View, Calif.--Ariba Inc. today rolled out new versions of its marketplace and auction platforms, plus the first release of a new sourcing product. Ariba Marketplace 7.2 and Ariba Marketplace, Network Edition 4.0, let companies run e-marketplaces in-house or in a hosted environment, respectively. The key development is that the two platforms, plus its auction software Ariba Dynamic Trade 2.0, are all now running on a common technology back-end and user interface. Both products are the result of acquisitions. Marketplace came from the TradeX acquisition, while Dynamic Trade came in the buyout of Trading Dynamics. The latest release of Dynamic Trade also features a new negotiation module that lets buyers negotiate terms of a deal online. Yet another acquisition, the more recent buy-out of SupplierMarket.com, is at the root of another new product, Ariba Sourcing, which provides an online environment to help companies source products from new suppliers.
