Barry to step down as top print sales exec at ‘Wall Street Journal’

New York—Judy Barry, senior VP-ad sales and marketing at The Wall Street Journal since 2005, is leaving the company early next month, according to an internal memo distributed Friday by L. Gordon Crovitz, president of Dow Jones Consumer Media Group and publisher of the Journal. The memo said Dow Jones has already started a search for a successor and hoped to fill the position as soon as possible. “When Judy agreed to move into this role in 2005 from her position as head of advertising marketing, she indicated that she did not want this to be a long-term assignment,” said the memo. “While we managed to persuade Judy to remain in this role longer than she intended, Judy decided the time had come for her to step down.” —Matthew Schwartz
