Bitly launches social reputation, search tools

New York—Bitly Inc., best known for its URL-shortening service, has introduced two new services: one for monitoring social reputation and another that returns real-time search results. Bitly's reputation-monitoring tool, relying on data gleaned from the 80 million URLs the company shortens each day, alerts users of swings in sentiment based on social media mentions, according to the company. The company's search tool displays stories it predicts will get the most attention over the next 24 hours, refining the returns in real time, the company said in a blog post announcing both new services.
