Blackfriars sets marketing index at 138 for fourth quarter

Maynard, Mass.—Blackfriars Communications announced that it has set the Blackfriars Marketing Index at 138 for the fourth quarter of 2005.

The Q4 index indicates that companies expect to spend 38% more on marketing in the fourth quarter than they spent on marketing in an average quarter in 2003, the year the index was established.

Also, Blackfriars set the third-quarter index of actual spending at 126, falling 52 points short of projected budgets.

Blackfriars also released indices for nine categories of marketing spending. The report found that advertising spending led all other categories, making up about 25% of marketing spending in the third quarter.
