Boston—The Boston Globe has launched BostonGlobe.com, a new subscription website for the brand, which provides full access to the Globe's content. Boston.com will continue as a free site, but it will no longer offer access to all the content produced by the Globe.
The subscription model will not be the metered model favored by BostonGlobe.com's sibling site, NYTimes.com. Instead, BostonGlobe.com will cost $3.99 per week for a digital-only subscription, starting Oct. 1. (Until then, access, which is sponsored by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage New England, will be free.) Subscribers already receiving home delivery of the newspaper will have free access to the website.
