Cash register giant introduces marketing service

Dayton, Ohio--NCR Corp. said Monday that it will provide e-commerce services to retailers building Internet operations. The Dayton, Ohio-based company said it would roll out an Internet service that allows retailers to run both their real-world and online merchandising operations, perform customer service and fulfill orders from a single interface. In taking the leap into virtual services, NCR Corp. will tap InterWorld Corp., New York, which sells software for running Internet storefronts. The move is significant because NCR is a giant in its field, with annual revenues in excess of $6.2 billion. A deadline for deployment of the service was not disclosed.
