CMP buys Think Service for $24.5 million

Manhasset, N.Y.—Technology publisher CMP announced Wednesday that it has acquired Think Service, including HDI (formerly the Help Desk Institute), one of the world’s largest membership associations for IT help desk and service management professionals and the premier certification body for the IT industry, for $24.5 million. The acquisition is designed to broaden CMP’s services portfolio to include certification, in addition to membership, training and events for IT support professionals. HDI, which has more than 7,000 members, will be an independent operating unit within CMP’s International Customer Management Institute group.
