CMP Media reports 15.6% gain in tech publication ad pages

Manhasset, N.Y.—CMP Media, a unit of London-based United Business Media, said Monday that ad pages in its tech publications were up 15.6% in May 2004 compared with May 2003. Tech ad pages as a whole were up 2.8% in the same time frame, according to data provided by IMS/The Auditor. For the year to date, CMP Media said ad pages at its continuing tech titles were down 1.2%, while ad pages for the industry as a whole were down 5.0%. In May, CMP Media was led by gainers such as InformationWeek (up 49.0%), VAR Business (up 48.7%), and CRN (up 31.7%). Publications down in pages in May included Dr. Dobb’s Journal (down 56.7%) and Network Computing (down 26.6%).
