San Francisco—CNET Networks’ Web site has announced a major relaunch effective last week.

With the launch, is broadening its coverage to examine the business, political and cultural impact of technology. For example, it will run stories such as the role technology is playing in helping to rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts’ views on key digital rights issues.

New categories include “Cutting Edge,” which provides coverage of topics such as autos, home, space and biotech, and “Media 2.0,” which provides coverage of topics including politics, government, entertainment and consumer services.
