CNET, ZDNet show declines in unique visitors

New York--In the wake of launching an aggressive $100 million branding campaign on July 1, CNET's performance showed mixed results, according to figures released by Media Metrix, an Internet audience measurement service. CNET, a technology portal, fell from 17th place to 18th place in Web traffic, as its unique visitors declined from 8.3 to 8.2 million between June and July. But CNET did pull ahead of rival technology portal ZDNet, which slid from 16th to 19th place, as its unique visitors tumbled from 8.6 million to slightly less than 8 million in the same period.
