Bethesda, Md.—Columbia Books & Information Services announced it has acquired Thompson Information Services, a provider of compliance information and training for several professional practice areas, from Thompson Media Group. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Columbia Books provides information to the association, government relations and other professional communities. The acquisition of Thompson Information Services expands its reach to professionals who must comply with government rules in such fields as human resources, food and drug administration, grants management, healthcare and energy. Media investment bank Berkery Noyes handled the transaction. This is the third divesture for Thompson Media Group in less than four months. In July it sold BioWorld and Medical Device Daily to Thomson Reuters, and in May it sold the publishing brands and businesses of Sheshunoff and A.S. Pratt to LexisNexis Legal & Professional and Reed Elsevier Properties.
