ComScore: Display ad impressions rise

Reston, Va.—Online display advertising in the U.S. showed strong gains in the third quarter, with a 22% increase in impressions compared with the same period last year, according to digital marketing and online intelligence company comScore.

About 1.28 trillion display ads were delivered to Internet viewers in the U.S. during the quarter, up from 1.05 trillion in the year-earlier period, according to comScore’s “U.S. Online Display Advertising Market Overview.”

Display ads on led all other U.S. publishers. The 297 billion impressions delivered over the social networking site amounted to a 23.1% share of all display ads, more than double its share in the year-earlier period. Yahoo (11% of total) and Microsoft (5%) sites round out the top three in display ad delivery.
