Detroit—Crain Communications Inc. Monday launched an iPad app for its AutoWeek brand.

A one-year subscription of 26 issues on the iPad will cost $4.99, compared with a current print offer of $29.95 annually. The single-issue price is 99 cents for the iPad compared with a newsstand price of $3.99 for the print edition.

The AutoWeek iPad app replicates its print counterpart but also offers more features to readers and marketers. For instance, it includes “video drives” of the Porsche 911 GT3 and 911 Turbo, the Audi A7 and the Lincoln MKZ hybrid and MKX. “It puts our readers behind the wheel of a car, and brings sight, sound and motion to our print product,” KC Crain, AutoWeek publisher and group VP at Crain Communications, said in a statement.

The app, which is available on iTunes, was developed with mobile publishing platform provider PixelMags.
