Cut to the Chase: Internet

Company: Freescale Semiconductor, Austin, Texas Agency: Godfrey Q and Partners, San Francisco Market: Design engineers Quick chase: The top of a man's head swings open as if on a hinge. A series of wireless, automotive, consumer and industrial products then pop into the man's head, to the accompaniment of the headline: "It puts ideas in your head." That was a clever idea considering Freescale makes chips for a broad range of industries. But the banner works much better than the landing page, where visitors are greeted with too much information. One problem is that Freescale rapidly rotates three different banners near the top of the page. We'd slow things down so that visitors can focus on a central message. Clue: It's hard to keep an advertiser top of mind when it's overwhelming visitors with multiple messages.
