Short Hills, N.J.—Business and marketing information company Dun & Bradstreet has named Bob Carrigan its president-CEO, effective Oct. 7. Carrigan was most recently worldwide CEO of IDG Communications and announced last month that he would step down. He succeeds to duties held by Sara Mathew, D&B's current chairman-CEO, who had previously announced her intention to retire. Mathew will step down from her executive positions and from the board on Oct. 7 but will work with D&B through the end of the year. “Bob quickly emerged as the candidate who would bring a powerful new perspective to our business,” said Christopher Coughlin, lead director of D&B's board, in a statement. “His track record of strategic leadership and innovation combined with his ability to leverage a company's core strengths and assets uniquely position him to begin a new chapter in D&B's history.” Carrigan had previously agreed to continue with IDG Communications through Sep. 30, the end of IDG's fiscal year, to facilitate the transition of leadership to Michael Friedenberg, newly named CEO of IDG Communications U.S., and David Hill, now president of IDG Communications.
