Direct marketers register solid performance

New York—Direct marketers’ revenues and profits grew in the fourth quarter year over year, according to the Direct Marketing Association’s Quarterly Business Review index.

The direct marketing revenue index was 67 for the fourth quarter, up from 61 in the fourth quarter of 2005. Profitability rose 1 point to 70. (A score of 50 represents no change in performance.)

The online survey of marketers, agencies and suppliers was conducted last month by the DMA’s Research and Market Intelligence unit. It generated 588 responses.
