DMA Diamond Echo goes to nonprofit Idaho volunteer fire department ad

Chicago—The Direct Marketing Association on Tuesday presented its Diamond Echo Award to Draftfcb for its nonprofit online campaign on behalf of the Eagle, Idaho, Volunteer Fire Department.

Draftfcb created “Victimized Bull,” an animated, outraged bovine that laments the loss of its testicles for the Rocky Mountain Oyster Feed, a charity benefit to raise money for the fire department.

Of 1,124 campaigns submitted for the 2007 Echos, 24 won Gold Echos, 51 won Silver, and 55, Bronze. B-to-b campaigns won 10 Gold, 26 Silver and 18 Bronze.

In addition, six campaigns were honored with special awards, which included a new award for search marketing.

The U.S. Postal Service Gold Mailbox Award went to Arc Worldwide/Leo Burnett Advertising of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for a b-to-b and consumer campaign for the Direct Marketing Association of Malaysia. The Henry Hoke Award went to GEKKO of Copenhagen for a b-to-b campaign promoting Hasselblad’s camera equipment for professional photographers.

“Deal or No Deal” host Howie Mandel was emcee of the awards ceremony, held at Chicago’s Union Station.
