DoubleClick looks to fill e-mail void

DoubleClick Inc., New York, last week entered into a partnership with Topica, San Francisco, to provide e-mail services to its customers. DoubleClick in December introduced management software, Dartmail, that allows advertisers to send e-mail to customers who request marketing materials. However, DoubleClick couldn't deliver a list of prospects without gleaning data from its advertising database. Because Topica has already gained customer consent to receive e-mail, DoubleClick will be able to resell lists of business prospects.
