eMarketer revises online ad growth projection downward

New York—eMarketer has revised downward its projection for the growth of online advertising in 2009. The company, based on new reports by the Internet Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers, said it expects online advertising to grow 8.9% next year. In August, before the recent roiling of the economy, the company had said it expected online advertising to grow 14.5% in 2009. eMarketer expects online advertising to total $23.6 billion this year and reach $25.7 billion next year.
