ALM buys Strategic Research Institute

Media company ALM has acquired the assets of Strategic Research Institute, a privately held conference producer. Financial terms were not disclosed. ALM, which publishes American Lawyer, Corporate Counsel, The National Law Journal and Real Estate Forum , will integrate events produced by SRI into its conference businesses. ALM's current conference businesses include ALM Events for the legal profession, Insight Information business conferences and RealShare conferences for the real estate industry. SRI produces more than 130 conferences annually for industries including finance, life sciences, natural resource development and multicultural marketing. SRI will continue to operate from its present locations in New York and Los Angeles, under the direction of co-founder Stuart M. Williams.

AMA announces Mplanet conference

The American Marketing Association, which represents more than 38,000 marketers, announced plans for Mplanet, a new event that will address the changing dynamics of marketing. The three-day conference, which will he held Nov. 29-Dec. 1 at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Fla., was created by the AMA in partnership with management consultant McKinsey & Co., the Wharton School and executive search firm Spencer Stuart.
