Marketers have a new tool in their PR arsenalâ€”the social media press
release. Rather than presenting plain old text in their press releases,
companies with news to share are mixing in blog posts, video clips,
links to web sites and other multi-media information to enhance the
value to journalists and other readers, according to â€śBe on the Blog.â€ť
The blog cites a recent example by Cisco Systems, which issued an SMR
(social media release) announcing its â€śConnected Lifeâ€ť contest, not only
to journalists but to the general public.
