Extremetech moves operations to New York, cuts staffers

New York—Extremetech will not be closing, as previously reported. Ziff Davis Publishing Holdings’ PCMag Digital Network confirmed that it has cut a handful of staff members from the Web site and has moved the operations from San Francisco to New York.

Jeremy Kaplan, former editor of ExtremeTech magazine, will be taking over the editorial direction of the site, according to a story on the Extremetech Web site.

“Ziff Davis Media is not shutting Extremetech, despite reports to the contrary. Extremetech, which for eight years has provided high-quality, technical information about core PC technology, continues to be an important brand component of the PCMag Digital Network,” Jason Young, Ziff Davis CEO, said in a statement. In an interview with BtoB, Young also said that there were some redundancies in what was covered by the Extremetech brand and PCMag brand.
