FT Search debuts beta version of Newssift, a business search engine

New York—FT Search, a unit of the Financial Times, has launched a beta version of its business information search engine, Newssift.

Available at, the site searches more than 4,000 sources, from Reuters to business-oriented blogs.

The site, which relies on Endeca’s search technologies, is designed for more precise search than Google and other general search engines by coordinating the search term among specified themes, places, people and organizations. The site will not rely on paid search for revenue; instead, it will rely on contextual advertising placement, according to John Greenleaf, CMO of FT Search.
