Gannett reports decline in August ad revenue

McLean, Va.—Gannett Co. reported Monday that its pro forma operating revenue for August declined 9.5% from a year earlier. Publishing advertising revenue fell 16.8% from August 2007. USA Today’s advertising revenue declined 13.5% on paid ad pages of 208, down from 236 in the year-earlier period. Broadcasting revenue, which includes revenue from Captivate, rose 20.7%.
