Google to cut about 200 sales and marketing jobs

Mountain View, Calif.—Google plans to cut about 200 jobs in its global sales and marketing organization, according to a post on the company’s blog. “We did look at a number of different options but ultimately concluded that we had to restructure our organizations in order to improve our effectiveness and efficiency as a business,” Omid Kordestani, VP-global sales and business development, wrote in the blog. He said that in its period of fast growth Google has “created overlapping organizations which not only duplicate effort but also complicate the decision-making process.”
