Google launches custom search for publishers

Mountain View, Calif.—Google this week launched the Google Custom Search Engine, a platform that will allow publishers to tailor search to Web sites and blogs. Publishers can decide which pages they want to include in their index, how the content should be prioritized, whether others can contribute to their index and what the search results page will look like. Intuit is among the sites that have already created Custom Search Engines, for its site, which provides information to small businesses. Macworld and Penton Media have also created Custom Search Engines.
