Google launches Google Sites

Mountain View, Calif.—Putting Microsoft Corp. in the cross hairs again, Google has introduced Google Sites, free Web software that is part of its Google Apps suite. Google Sites lets a group of people create a centralized Web site and share information. It includes e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet software and a calendar application, creating a repository for sharing documents, videos, photos and presentations. The product will compete with Microsoft’s SharePoint collaboration program.
