Harland Clarke expands direct marketing services

San Antonio—Integrated payment solutions company Harland Clarke Corp. has extended its direct marketing capabilities with the acquisitions of Protocol Integrated Marketing Services and SubscriberMail.

Known traditionally for its check-printing services, Harland Clarke increasingly has been offering to its financial services clients direct marketing services as well, including e-mail, transpromotional advertising and promotional specialty items.

The company’s acquisition of Protocol adds enhanced database marketing and b-to-b telemarketing capabilities, while SubscriberMail brings on-demand e-mail marketing solutions. The acquisitions also bring added customers in such industries as health care, insurance, pharmaceutical technology, manufacturing and retail, according to Harland Clarke.

Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
