HD Digital Radio Alliance launches ad campaign

Orlando, Fla.—The HD Digital Radio Alliance, a consortium of terrestrial radio broadcasters, Monday launched an advertising campaign to tout high-definition radio.

The branding initiative is called “Discover It!” Ads are running in 50 radio markets, including 22 new HD markets. The initiative, part of the alliance’s $200 million ad campaign announced in December, is an effort to distinguish “free” radio from paid satellite radio.

The campaign is targeting more than 15 companies that manufacture HD digital radio receivers, including Alpine, Boston Acoustics and Sanyo, as well as HD radio distributors, such as ABC Warehouse, J&R Music and Radio Shack.
