Hearst reorganizes business publishing companies

New York--The Hearst Corp. has formed a new major operating group, Hearst Business Media. The group will consolidate the corporation's more than 20 business-to-business publications, electronic databases, software products and Web activities covering the automotive, electronics and pharmaceutical industries. Richard Malloch, 45, VP and deputy group head of Hearst Books/Business Publishing, was named group head and president of the group. Hearst companies in the new group include Motor Information Systems, publisher of Motor magazine, manuals and electronic databases for auto-repair professionals; National Auto Research, publisher of the Black Book auto-pricing guidebooks and databases for auto dealers and finance companies; and United Technical Publishing, publisher of Electronic Products magazine and several catalogs and databases for electronic-design engineers. Hearst Business Media also publishes Floor Covering Weekly, a trade publication, and Diversion, a controlled-circulation leisure magazine for physicians.
