New York—Hitwise, an online competitive intelligence service, announced it will create new and returning visitors data reports for clients. Hitwise said the data are important in understanding the percentage of new and repeat traffic a Web site receives, which sources of traffic provide the greatest volumes of each type of visitor and where new and returning visitors go after visiting a Web site. Marketers can use the data in various ways, such as analyzing a competitor’s audience and gauging the effectiveness of search engines and other sites in driving traffic.
