IAB establishes new ad format competition

New York—In a move designed to fuel creativity in online advertising, the Interactive Advertising Bureau announced a competition for the development of new online ad formats.

“We are launching a formal call to action today for creatives, technologists, publishers, marketers—the entire advertising and marketing ecosystem—to bring us their best ideas for ad formats,” said Randall Rothenberg president-CEO of the IAB, at the bureau’s annual MIXX Conference & Expo in New York on Monday.

Submissions for the new ad units will be accepted until Nov. 15, and a set of “rising star” ad units will be named by the end of the year.

The ad unit submissions will be evaluated based on criteria including branding, user experience, functionality, page integration and adoption.
