IAB reports Internet ad revenue down 5% in first quarter

New York—Internet ad revenue totaled $5.5 billion in the first quarter, down 5.0% from the same period last year, according to a report from the Interactive Advertising Bureau and Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

The decrease is the first year-over-year decline in Internet ad revenue since 2002, following the dot-com crash.

“We’re confident that growth will resume as the U.S. economic climate improves,” said Randall Rothenberg, president-CEO of the IAB.
