IBM debuts Smart Analytics for data analysis

Armonk, N.Y.—International Business Machines continues to ramp up its presence in the text analytics arena with the launch of its Smart Analytics System, which uncovers relationships in databases, videos, e-mails, Web sites, podcasts, blogs, wikis and archival data.

Other features of the product include business intelligence reporting, dashboards, scorecards, data mining and data warehouse management.

Expected to augment the new service will be IBM's acquisition of predictive analytics company SPSS Inc., announced last month. SPSS's software analyzes sentiments in such unstructured data as call center notes and open-ended surveys.
