IBM launches Smarter Commerce marketing service

Armonk, N.Y.—IBM Corp., moving ever more strongly into marketing services and consultancy, on Monday debuted its Smarter Commerce service to help companies deploy digital marketing initiatives.

Smarter Commerce—the name echoes the company's ongoing “Smarter Planet” and “Smarter Cities” marketing campaigns—will offer consultancy services as well as cloud-based social analytics and solutions for personalizing campaigns.

Smarter Commerce extends the company's investment in marketing support services, including such recent acquisitions as marketing optimization company Coremetrics Inc., b-to-b e-commerce company Sterling Commerce and marketing management software company Unica Corp.
