IDG expands social media offerings

Framingham, Mass.—IDG, which earlier this year introduced Amplify, a social media advertising unit, is set to announce this week that it is expanding its social media-oriented offerings to marketers.

IDG Social Scout, a service powered by Madison, Wis.-based Networked Insights' analytics, tracks conversations about brands and related topics. IDG said the service can help marketers develop programs to respond to issues identified in online social media.

”We licensed Networked Insights’ technology because its listening platform delivers real-time insights to automatically identify relevant topics and measure the intensity of the conversations to gain an understanding of what is most important to a company’s prospects and customers,” Deidra Bodkin, VP-client services for IDG Strategic Marketing Services, said in a statement.
