Interactive advertising continues torrid growth

New York—Internet advertising revenue for the first half hit a record $9.993 billion, up 26.4% from the year-earlier period, according to the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers, which released a report Thursday.

Search led the way, accounting for 41% ($4.097 billion) of the revenue, while display ads represented the second-largest share, at 32%.

“More and more marketers have embraced the reality that interactive is the fulcrum on which their brand strategies need to be based, and we expect robust growth to continue,” said Randall Rothenberg, president-CEO of IAB, in a statement. He called the growth “torrid” and “no surprise, but very welcome news.”
