JMP Securities projects global online advertising will reach $65 billion by 2010

Dec. 20 San Francisco—In a revision to an earlier projection, JMP Securities forecast the global online advertising market will grow at a rate of 25% annually for the next five years, reaching $65 billion by 2010.

In a forecast earlier this year, JMP Securities projected online advertising would grow at a rate of 20% annually.

JMP said it revised its forecast following a recent report by the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers, which found Internet advertising, grew by 34% during the third quarter.

“As a result of the IAB/PwC update, our discussions with online advertisers over the past few quarters, and our belief that the IAB/PwC is not capturing the entire search market in its numbers, we are raising our global online advertising forecast for the remainder of 2005, 2006 and beyond,” JMP said in its report.
