New York--Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and seven other investment firms have made a $40 million investment in Waltham, Mass.-based, a business-to-business site for industrial manufactured products. Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Fenway Partners, New York, took the lead roles in the financing,'s second round. Other investors include Fleet Equity Partners, Boston. The deal is notable because it marks Kohlberg Kravis Roberts' most significant foray into the b-to-b marketplace to date; the firm is best known for its storied late-80s $25 billion-plus leveraged buyout of RJR Nabisco, which at the time was the largest leveraged buyout in history.
