LinkedIn debuts feature for mentioning companies, connections

San Francisco—LinkedIn has begun rolling out a feature that makes it easier for users to mention companies and other LinkedIn members within their posts and conversations. When a member is typing into the status update box or a comment field on the LinkedIn home page, a drop-down menu will appear as the user begins to type the name of a connection or a company. Once the name of the connection or company has been included in a published post, the person or company will receive a notification alerting them that they have been mentioned. “Mentions will make it easier for you to start conversations with your network while also enabling you to respond in real time when someone begins a conversation with you,” said LinkedIn's Associate Product Manager Angela Yang in a blog post introducing the feature.
