Lowin named publisher of 'Red Herring'

San Francisco--Julian Lowin, former publisher of Gruner + Jahr USA's Fast Company, was named publisher of rival Red Herring. Lowin replaces Ted Gramkow, who resigned in December. Red Herring, like other new economy titles, has seen a drop-off in ad pages. Through May, ad pages were down 63% compared with the same period last year, according to the Publishers Information Bureau.
