Lucent to acquire International Network Services

Murray Hill, N.J.--Lucent Technologies has inked a definitive agreement to acquire International Network Services, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based independent network consulting provider, in a deal valued at about $3.7 billion. "Together, Lucent and INS will offer customers the industry's deepest portfolio of network planning, design, integration, maintenance and management solutions," said Lucent CEO Rich McGinn in a statement. INS' performance management software products complement Lucent's advanced communications software portfolio, Mr. McGinn said. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
