New York—A total of 359 deals were announced last month in the marketing, media, technology and business information/services industries, a 7% increase over the 336 transactions announced in March, according to data released by investment bank Petsky Prunier. Digital media/commerce was the most active segment last month, with 76 transactions, slightly ahead of March's 73 deals. One of the top transactions in the segment was Amazon's $26 million acquisition of U.K.-based Evi Technologies, a developer of a mobile app with natural language search. Among the transactions where deal value was reported, information and business services had the highest reported value, $2.7 billion, based on the 15 deals out of a total of 40.
