McCracken to leave ‘PC World’ to start tech venture

San Francisco—PC World Editor in Chief Harry McCracken is leaving the IDG magazine to start his own venture, according to a PC World Techlog blog post by McCracken Monday afternoon.

“After giving it a lot of thought, I’ve decided to step down as editor in chief and launch a technology site of my own—one that I’ll build from scratch and launch this summer,” he said in the post.

McCracken will remain on staff until June 2, after which he will be a contributing editor.

He also noted in the blog post that “PC World has lots of ambitious things in the works. Even though I won’t be on staff, I’m looking forward to seeing all of them become reality in the coming months.”
