McGraw-Hill reports third-quarter earnings

New York--The McGraw-Hill Cos. On Tuesday reported that net income for the third quarter grew 15.3% to $276.2 million, compared with $239.5 million in 2001. Excluding an after-tax gain on the sale of MMS International in September, net income was $274.2 million. Revenue for the third quarter increased 2.8% to $1.58 billion. The positive results stemmed mainly from the performance of McGraw-Hill’s financial services and education divisions. Revenue declined by 4% in the company’s b-to-b group, which includes BusinessWeek, AviationWeek , Architectural Record and other products
