Microsoft, Andersen Consulting form $1 billion venture

Redmond, Wash.--Microsoft Corp. and Andersen Consulting Monday announced a $1 billion venture to create and bankroll a Seattle-based company, Avanade, that will market Windows 2000-based platform services to businesses. Avanade will hire 3,000 people and open offices in nine cities, including London and Singapore. Microsoft and Andersen plan to take Avanade public. Additionally, more than 25,000 Andersen consultants will be trained to deliver Windows 2000 software.
