Microsoft puts $1 billion media account into review

Redmond, Wash.—Microsoft Corp. has put its media account, estimated at more than $1 billion, into review, the software giant said Friday.

"As a business best practice, Microsoft regularly evaluates its agency mix to ensure we retain the most qualified partners for our business needs across all markets,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.

Universal McCann, the incumbent, is expected to participate in the review. Microsoft did not say which other agencies will participate.

According to several executives with knowledge of the situation, Microsoft circulated a request-for-information to agencies Thursday evening.
